FSU Women’s Hoops: Gillespie, Myers Honored by ACC

Despite losing the vast majority of its production from a season ago and not having a single senior, Florida State women’s basketball enjoyed an outstanding regular season. That was rewarded with a pair of individual honors on Tuesday.

Redshirt junior and Maryland transfer Kiah Gillespie was named first-team All-ACC by both the conference’s coaches and the Blue Ribbon Panel. Gillespie led the Seminoles this season with 16.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. She’s one of only three players in the ACC to rank in the top 10 in the conference in both categories.

The panel and the conference’s coaches also both named Valencia Myers to the ACC All-Freshman team. A native of Ohio, Myers finished the regular season averaging nine points, six rebounds and 1.7 blocks, which ranks fifth in the ACC.

FSU finished the regular season with a record of 22-7 and 10-6 in conference. Currently ranked No. 21, the Seminoles will be the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament and will take the court in Greensboro on Thursday night against either Duke or Pittsburgh.
