Lead Story

For the fifth season in a row, Florida State’s women’s basketball hit double-digit ACC wins and will be the No. 6 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament.

The Seminoles accomplished that feat with a stifling defensive effort in the fourth quarter on Sunday in a 64-55 win at Georgia Tech. The Seminoles trailed 51-47 after three quarters, but kept the Yellow Jackets scoreless for nearly eight minutes to start the fourth. FSU held Georgia Tech to 2-for-12 shooting in the final period and to 37 percent for the game.

Nausia Woolfolk led FSU with a game-high 16 points. Kiah Gillespie and Morgan Jones each scored 12 points. Gillespie added 13 rebounds. Jasmine Carson led Georgia Tech with 14 points on an efficient 5-for-7 shooting.

With the win, FSU wraps up the regular season with a 22-7 record overall and a 10-6 mark in the ACC and will be the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament in Greensboro this week. The Seminoles will face either 11th-seeded Duke or No. 14 seed Pittsburgh on Thursday.
