Florida State blasted six home runs in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium to cruise past Youngstown State in a game shortened to seven innings, 24-2.

For the second day in a row, the Penguins (0-5) were able to jump to an early lead, scoring a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly. Four batters into the bottom of the first, FSU (6-0) had homered three teams to highlight a 7-run frame. Reese Albert, Drew Mendoza and Robby Martin all homered in the inning. Nander De Sedas, Carter Smith and Elijah Cabell would all add bombs later in the contest.

Martin finished 4-for-4 with two runs scored and six RBIs. Cabell added five RBIs and four runs scored in the victory. Mike Salvatore and De Sedas each plated three runs. Mendoza and Jonathan Foster each scored three times.

C.J. Van Eyk allowed two runs on three hits and no walks in five innings to get his second win of the year for the Seminoles. Youngstown State starter Jon Snyder was not so lucky as he took the loss after allowing seven runs before being pulled in the FSU first.

That wasn’t the biggest inning of the day for FSU as it pushed nine more across in the sixth. For the second game in a row, Blaze Glenn drove in both Youngstown State runs.
