Florida State set a new school-record on Tuesday night with its eighth straight ACC win, topping Clemson, 77-64. Since last looking at the brackets, FSU has won three games as it also topped Wake Forest and Georgia Tech last week.
In this week’s projections, the Seminoles rose to a No. 5 seed in two of the five brackets. All brackets last week projected FSU as a No. 6. All brackets were published prior to Florida State’s Tuesday night victory at Littlejohn Coliseum.

NBC Sports: West Region No. 6 vs. (11) Oklahoma in Hartford (Feb. 18)
USA Today: West Region No. 6 vs. (11) Seton Hall in Jacksonville (Feb. 18)
Summary
Both CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm and SB Nation’s Chris Dobbertean have FSU listed as a No. 5 seed and opening the NCAA Tournament in Salt Lake City. The differences are region and opponent.
Dobbertean, who has the most recent bracket projection, pits FSU against projected Atlantic Sun champion Liberty in the South Region. It would be the first meeting between the schools on the hardwood.
Palm matches Florida State up with projected Ohio Valley Conference champion Belmont in the East Region. That would also be the first match-up between the schools. Neither the Bruins nor Flames have ever won an NCAA Tournament game.
Both NBC Sports’ Dave Ommen and the USA Today duo of Scott Gleeson and Shelby Mast have FSU as a No. 6 seed in the West Region. Ommen pits the Seminoles against Oklahoma in Hartford while the USA Today tandem matches Florida State up against Seton Hall in Jacksonville.
FSU is 0-2 all-time against Oklahoma, but the teams have not met since December 1987. FSU is 3-1 all-time against the Pirates and 2-0 on neutral courts, but did lose the last meeting between the schools in Tallahassee in December 1999.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi matches FSU up with UCF in the South Region No. 6 vs. 11 match-up in Hartford. Florida State is 11-0 all-time against the Knights with all contests decided by at least 12 points. The Seminoles won the last match-up in Tallahassee in December 2014 by a 96-73 score.
FSU will look to remain hot this week as it travels to North Carolina on Saturday. The Tar Heels are currently listed as a No. 2 seed by all the experts. Following that, FSU will return home to host Notre Dame on Monday. The Fighting Irish, at 13-13, did not appear in any bracket.
