The Daily Nole — Feb. 15, 2019: FSU Women Fall at Clemson

Lead Story

Florida State women’s basketball fell to 8-4 in ACC play on Thursday night. Two of those losses are to Clemson.

The Tigers completed the season sweep of the Seminoles, 73-68. Despite turning the ball over more often and getting outrebounded, Clemson shot 55 percent from the field and 5-for-9 from deep.

FSU led 32-30 at halftime, but trailed by as many as 11 late in the third quarter. The Seminoles were able to get as close as two, but missed opportunities to draw even late.

Florida State’s Nicki Ekhomu led all scorers with 27 points while Nausia Woolfolk added 18 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Kobi Thornton finished with 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting to pace Clemson.

FSU women’s basketball was the only scheduled athletic event for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU softball faces Ohio State at 9:30 a.m. EST in the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational on Friday before facing Oklahoma at 1 p.m. EST. The first game airs on ESPN3 and the second on ESPNU. FSU baseball opens the season at home against Maine at 4 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

FSU hoops currently ranks 22nd, according to Ken Pomeroy.

FSU baseball used a combined no-hitter to top Maine on Friday night, 11-0.
