The Daily Nole — Jan. 26, 2019: FSU’s Burns to Participate in All-Star Event

Lead Story

Since he declared after his junior season, Florida State defensive end Brian Burns won’t be participating in any all-star games, but he will get to represent FSU one more time.

Burns has been selected to participate in the State Farm All-Star Football Challenge in Dallas. The event will air on Feb. 1 at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN2.

Joining Burns on the ACC team will be Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, NC State quarterback Ryan Finley and Notre Dame defensive back Julian Love. Events include the State Farm QB Accuracy Competition, the Hands Competition, the Quicken Loans Lineman Strength Challenge, the Mercedes-Benz Obstacle Course and the State Farm Team Competition, per a release.

Burns was named an All-ACC performer as a junior for FSU this past season, recording 52 tackles, 15.5 for loss, 10 sacks and three forced fumbles. He is projected as a first round pick in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft.

Between the Lines

FSU track and field participated in events at Clemson, Texas Tech and Columbia on Friday. FSU women’s tennis fell to Tennessee in the ITA Kick-Off, 4-3.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis will continue the ITA Kick-Off on Saturday while the men’s team begins the event. FSU track and field will finish up its events from Friday. FSU swimming and diving hosts Florida Atlantic.
