Lead Story

In its biggest test yet, Florida State women’s basketball fought hard but ultimately fell to No. 4 Louisville at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Thursday night, 68-49.

FSU cut an early 14-point deficit to nine at the break, but could get no closer. The Cardinals shot 56 percent to 32 percent for the Seminoles. They also went 5-for-11 from deep to just 3-for-18 for FSU. Louisville held a 37-25 advantage on the glass.

Asia Durr finished with 29 points for Louisville on 10-for-16 shooting. Kiah Gillespie was just 5-for-14, but led FSU with 13 points and six rebounds. Louisville’s Sam Fuehring and FSU’s Nicki Ekhomu each added 11 points.

With the loss, FSU falls to 16-3 and 4-2 in ACC play. Florida State will hit the road to take on Virginia Tech on Sunday.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s hoops was the only scheduled athletic event for Thursday.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis begins ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Friday. FSU track and field will compete in events at Clemson, Columbia and Texas Tech.
