It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. As you return to the old grind after a long weekend, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

After reports broke last week that Florida State redshirt sophomore James Blackman would enter the NCAA transfer portal, he is now reportedly expected to stay at FSU.

According to the report from Noles247’s Brendan Sonnone, Blackman recently met with head coach Willie Taggart to iron out some details about Blackman’s role on the team. After being forced into action in 2017 and becoming the first true freshman to start at quarterback for FSU since 1985, Blackman sat behind the more veteran Deondre Francois this past season.

Blackman did appear in four games and passed for 421 yards and four touchdowns in a loss to NC State in his only start. Blackman is expected to compete with Francois for the starting job again in 2019.
