FSU athletics

It’s Thursday, Florida State fans. As your week rolls downhill, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post may be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s indoor track and field season got underway last week and if the first round of ACC weekly honorees is any indication, the Seminoles are in for a big year.

FSU took home four of the five ACC honors for individual performances at the Orange and Purple Elite at Clemson. Junior Kasaun James was named ACC Men’s Track Co-Performer of the Week after placing second in the 60 meters and helping the Seminoles place second in the 4-by-400-meter relay. Sophomore Jayla Kirkland took Track Performer of the Week on the women’s side after winning in the 60 meters — an event where FSU took the top four spots.

Seniors Armani Wallace and Rougui Sow took ACC Field Performer of the Week honors. Wallace took first place in the triple jump and second place in the long jump at Clemson. Sow won the long jump on the women’s side.

FSU returns to action with three separate events on Jan. 25.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

FSU women’s hoops will visit Boston College on Thursday night. The contest begins at 7 p.m. EST and airs on ACC Network Extra.
