The Daily Nole — Jan. 15, 2019: FSU Guaranteed to be Represented in Super Bowl

It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. As the early parts of your week continue to move, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Just three meaningful football games remain for the 2018 NFL season and the good news for Florida State fans is that regardless of their favorite NFL team, they will get to see a former Seminole play in the Super Bowl.

Active players in remaining this year’s playoff include Kansas City Chiefs’ tackle Cam Erving and defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, New Orleans Saints’ cornerback P.J. Williams and Los Angeles Rams’ defensive back Lamarcus Joyner. Others on injured reserve include wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and linebacker Terrence Smith for Kansas City, tight end Ryan Izzo for the New England Patriots and cornerback Patrick Robinson for the Saints.

The Patriots and Chiefs will square off for the AFC Championship on Sunday after the Saints host the Rams in the NFC Championship. The winners will advance to Super Bowl LIII, which takes place on Feb. 3 in Atlanta.

Between the Lines

FSU hoops was defeated on Monday night at Pittsburgh, 75-62.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

Florida State sophomore Joshua Davidson was selected as the ACC Male Diver of the Week on Monday.
