The Daily Nole — Jan. 14, 2019: FSU Women Suffer First ACC Loss

Lead Story

Florida State women’s basketball’s stay in the top 25 may be a short one. The No. 22 Seminoles fell at home to Clemson on Sunday, 57-45.

FSU was held to less than 27 percent shooting. The Seminoles led 13-10 after a quarter, but trailed 31-26 at the half and managed just 19 points in the second half.

Kiah Gillespie and Nicki Ekhomu each scored 16 points to lead FSU. Kobi Thornton led the Tigers with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

FSU will try to get back on track on Thursday night at Boston College.

Between the Lines

In addition to women’s hoops, FSU men’s tennis clinched the Florida State Spring Invitational with a 5-0 win over Florida Atlantic.

On the Agenda

FSU will travel to face Pittsburgh on Monday night. The game begins at 7 p.m. EST and airs on ESPNU.

News and Notes

The ACC will name players of the week for various sports on Monday.

FSU basketball moved up to No. 11 in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Polls. FSU was No. 13 last week in both.

FSU baseball Will begin the season ranked No. 13 in the D1Baseball Poll.

FSU hoops fell to Pittsburgh on Monday night, 75-62.
