The Daily Nole — Jan. 12, 2019: FSU’s Kuikka Wins Honda Sport Award

Lead Story

In addition to All-American and national champion, Florida State soccer’s Natalia Kuikka has another title to add to her name.

On Wednesday, Kuikka was presented with the Honda Sport Award for soccer, which is given to the “best of the best” in college athletics. As a senior this past season, the Finland native was named second-team All-ACC and a second team All-American.

While helping FSU witn ACC and national championships, Kuikka, a defender, recorded two goals and an assist. She was a key part of one of the nation’s best defenses.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s tennis opened the season on Friday with wins over Florida Atlantic and Mercer. FSU track and field began the indoor season with the Orange and Purple Elite. FSU diving competed against Miami and Alabama.

On the Agenda

FSU hoops will host Duke on Saturday at 2 p.m. EST on ESPN. FSU swimming and diving continues to take on Miami and Alabama. FSU men’s tennis begins the Florida State Spring Invitational.

Duke is a 7.5-point favorite over FSU.
