It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. As you try to wake up after staying up late to watch the national championship, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post may be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The honor may have been overdue, but former Florida State cornerback Terrell Buckley is officially a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

Inducted Monday, the 1991 Jim Thorpe Award winner and Unanimous All-American still holds the FSU career interception record with 21, including a nation-leading 12 in 1991. Buckley remains the FBS all-time leader in interception yards.

Over the course of his FSU career, Buckley scored seven touchdowns, including three on punt returns. The most notable likely came against Syracuse in 1989 after he lulled the Orangemen special teams unit into thinking he called for a fair catch before scooting 69 yards for the touchdown. Perhaps the defining moment of Buckley’s career was a 40-yard interception return for a score at Michigan in 1991.

Following his FSU career, Buckley spent 14 years in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, New York Jets and New York Giants. Buckley led the NFL in interception yardage with the Dolphins in 1996 and was a member of New England’s 2001 championship team.
