Lead Story

One day after being named Pro Football Focus’ Defensive Rookie of the Year, former Florida State safety Derwin James was named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press.

As a rookie for the Los Angeles Chargers, James led the team with 105 tackles to go with 3.5 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions. James was one of just three rookies to make the first team along with guard Quenton Nelson and linebacker Darius Leonard, both of the Indianapolis Colts.

James was selected 17th overall by the Chargers in April’s NFL Draft. The Chargers will visit the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in an AFC Wild Card game.

On the Agenda

FSU basketball will travel to face No. 4 Virginia on Saturday. The contest begins at 3 p.m. EST and airs on ESPN2.

News and Notes

FSU hoops currently ranks 17th, according to Ken Pomeroy.

5-star FSU cornerback commit Akeem Dent announced on Twitter that he would be shutting his recruitment down and enrolling early.

FSU basketball fell at Virginia on Saturday, 65-52.
