The Daily Nole – Dec. 19, 2018: Two Former FSU DBs Named to Pro Bowl

Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your week heads downhill, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Florida State’s claim of “DBU” or Defensive Back University seems to continue to have legs.

On Tuesday, former FSU defensive backs Jalen Ramsey and Derwin James were each named to the NFL’s Pro Bowl or the league’s All-Star game. It is the second straight selection for Ramsey, a third-year cornerback with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the first for James, the Los Angeles Chargers’ rookie safety.

Ramsey has 57 tackles and three interceptions this year. James has 93 tackles, 3.5 for loss and three interceptions this season. The Pro Bowl happens in Orlando on Jan. 27.

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU hoops will host North Florida at 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday. The contest airs on ACC Network Extra.

FSU soccer’s Natalia Kuikka is a finalist for the 2018 Honda Sport Award.

3-star defensive tackle Malcolm Ray flipped from South Florida to Florida State on Wednesday morning.

FSU landed the commitment of 3-star cornerback Jarvis Brownlee on Wednesday morning.

FSU added 4-star safety Raymond Woodie III on Wednesday.

4-star defensive tackle Derick Hunter has flipped from Florida State to Texas A&M.

4-star quarterback commitment Sam Howell has flipped his commitment from FSU to North Carolina.

FSU basketball defeated North Florida on Wednesday night in Tallahassee, 95-81.
