It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. As your weekend comes to a close, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The nation’s No. 2 player, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, made his long-awaited decision and Florida State came up short.

Kayvon Thibodeaux, a native of Thousand Oaks, California, picked Oregon over Florida State, Alabama and Florida on Saturday. Thibodeaux, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound weakside defensive end, is the second-ranked player both overall and at his position.

Although the Seminoles were unable to secure Thibodeaux’s commitment, they still have a strong committed group of defensive linemen and the No. 13 overall class. That includes Quashon Fuller, Derick Hunter, Curtis Fann and Derrick McLendon.

Between the Lines

There were no FSU athletic events scheduled for Saturday.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s basketball will host Creighton at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday. The contest will air on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

Former FSU volleyball head coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud was officially inducted into the AVCA Hall of Fame 2017 class on Thursday.
