The Daily Nole — Dec. 13, 2018: Woodbey Named Freshman All-American by ESPN

Lead Story

Florida State endured a disappointing 2018, but there is hope for a bright future. One of the reasons is a freshman safety who earned an individual recognition on Wednesday.

FSU safety Jaiden Woodbey was named a Freshman All-American by ESPN on Wednesday. The California native wasn’t offered a scholarship by FSU until last December and promptly committed and enrolled early.

In 2018, Woodbey finished fourth on the team with 58 tackles and third with 4.5 tackles for loss. Woodbey added a sack and forced fumble. His eight pass break-ups was second on the team.

News and Notes

FSU volleyball’s Taryn Knuth and Payton Caffrey were named honorable mention All-Americans, the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

FSU soccer’s Yujie Zhao was named TopDrawerSoccer Freshman of the Year while head coach Mark Krikorian was named National Coach of the Year.
