Florida State may be sitting home for bowl season for the first time since 1981, but the Seminoles will have some representation in one of the New Year’s Six contests.
Former FSU defensive end Derrick Alexander is set to be inducted into the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame. Alexander played in Orange Bowls for FSU to cap the 1992 and 1993 seasons with wins over Nebraska. The latter resulted in the program’s first national championship.
In the 18-16 Orange Bowl win over Nebraska to conclude 1993, Alexander tallied 11 tackles including two for loss. Alexander will be inducted pregame before No. 4 Oklahoma plays top-ranked Alabama in a national semifinal in Miami on Dec. 29.
Other FSU players previously inducted into the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame include former head coach Bobby Bowden, defensive end Peter Boulware, linebacker Derrick Brooks, wide receiver Andre Cooper, running back Warrick Dunn and quarterback Charlie Ward.

On the Agenda
FSU basketball will face Connecticut in the Never Forget Tribute Classic on Saturday evening. The contest begins at 6:30 p.m. EST and will air on ESPN2.
News and Notes
FSU football has yet to hire an offensive coordinator.
FSU freshman swimmer Ida Hulkko will be representing Finland at the 14th FINA Short Course World Championships that will run from Dec. 11-16 in Hangzhou, China.
FSU basketball defeated Connecticut on Saturday night in the Never Forget Tribute Classic, 79-71.
