Florida State women’s basketball won its match-up in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge by defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions, 87-58, on Thursday night.

It was a night of career-highs for the Seminoles, who had multiple players post dominant performances. The most notable was from forward Kiah Gillespie, who notched a career-high 27 points along with five rebounds. She had 20 in the first half. Forward Valencia Myers also recorded a double-double with 11 points and a career-high of 14 rebounds. In all, four Seminoles scored in double digits.

The final score is a product of the final three quarters more than the first. At the end of one, it was tied 21-21. After that, Florida State outscored the Nittany Lions 66-37 and shot over 50 percent from the floor.

Florida State moves to 7-1 overall on the season. The Seminoles’ next game will be their first true road contest, when they travel to Hawkins Arena in Macon, Georgia to take on the Mercer Bears.

FSU volleyball saw its season come to a close with a first round loss in the NCAA Tournament to the Florida Gators.

On the Agenda

FSU soccer plays in the NCAA Semifinals on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. EST. It will face off against the Stanford Cardinals for a spot in the NCAA Championship.

Florida State football sent out more offers Thursday, including 3-star offensive guard Maurice Smith and 3-star offensive tackle Nick Pendley.

FSU soccer defeated No. 1 Stanford on Friday night in the College Cup to advance to the national championship.
