Lead Story

According to the official university Twitter account, a Florida State fan is under investigation from the State Attorney’s Office for a racist social media post that suggested head football coach Willie Taggart should be lynched.

The poster seemed to double down once confronted about it (pictured). Taggart is the first black head football coach in school history.

The post followed a 41-14 loss to Florida on Saturday as the Seminoles finished 5-7 in Taggart’s first season. The loss ends a streak of 41 straight winning seasons and 36 straight bowl appearances.

Between the Lines

FSU basketball was defeated on Sunday by Villanova in the championship game of the AdvoCare Invitational, 66-60.

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Monday.

FSU volleyball will take on Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

FSU basketball fell one spot to No. 15 in this week’s AP Poll.

The ACC will name players of the week for various sports.

FSU football has reportedly added a 2019 home game with Alabama State.

FSU defensive end Brian Burns was named a first-team All-ACC selection on Monday. Wide receiver Nyqwan Murray and defensive tackle Demarcus Christmas were named third-team selections.

FSU’s Payton Caffrey was named ACC Volleyball Player of the Year.
