Florida State avoided its first 4-game losing streak since 1975 and kept hope alive that it would be able to continue the nation’s longest bowl streak with a thrilling 22-21 victory over No. 20 Boston College at home on Saturday.

The Seminoles improved to 5-6 with the win and will need to beat Florida to go bowling. FSU went ahead for good on a 74-yard touchdown pass from Deondre Francois to Tamorrion Terry with less than two minutes to play. As usual, editor Mike Ferguson and lead writer Clint Eiland hand out game balls to the Seminoles who performed best on Saturday.

Offense

Mike: Cam Akers, RB
For the second week in a row, Florida State showed life on the ground. Sophomore running back Cam Akers rushed for a season-high 110 yards on 14 carries for the Seminoles to go with the team’s first touchdown of the day. Akers averaged 7.9 yards per carry, which included a long of 55 yards.

Clint: Tamorrion Terry, WR
When FSU needed it most, redshirt freshman wide receiver Tamorrion Terry may have saved FSU’s season. Terry finished with three catches for a team-high 112 yards, including the 74-yard game-winning touchdown catch with 1:49 remaining in the contest. Terry leads FSU this year with eight touchdown receptions.

Defense

Unanimous Game Ball: Brian Burns, DE
Florida State junior defensive end Brian Burns couldn’t get the benefit of any apparent holding penalties, but finished with a strong day nonetheless. Burns capped his day with seven total tackles, including a team-high two for loss and a sack. Burns got consistent pressure on the final drive in which FSU forced a turnover on downs to secure the victory.

Special Teams

Mike: Tamorrion Terry, WR
In addition to scoring the game-winning touchdown on offense, FSU’s Tamorrion Terry had a pair of special teams tackles. That included a jarring hit on Boston College return man Michael Walker midway through the third quarter.

Clint: Ricky Aguayo, K
Florida State junior kicker Ricky Aguayo overcame a blocked field goal early in the game to finish 3-for-4 on the day and 1-for-1 on extra points. The longest of the three field goals was from 37 yards away.
