Florida State volleyball’s ACC title hopes likely fell by the wayside on Friday night as the Seminoles were defeated by No. 10 Pittsburgh in four sets in the final match of the regular season in Tallahassee.
FSU was able to avoid the sweep in a 22-25, 21-25, 25-20, 19-25 loss, but that was as good as it could do. Payton Caffrey led FSU with 16 kills while seniors Brianne Burkert and Kelsey Wicinski led the Seminoles in assists and digs, respectively, on Senior Night. Nika Markovic led four Panthers in double-figures with a match-high 18 kills.
With the victory, Pittsburgh clinches the automatic bid in the ACC. FSU falls to 13-3 in conference and 17-9 on the year. Up next for the Seminoles is a trip to North Carolina on Wednesday night.
Between the Lines
In addition to volleyball, FSU swimming and diving continued the Georgia Tech Invite on Friday. FSU soccer topped South Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, 3-1.
On the Agenda
FSU swimming and diving continues the Georgia Tech Invite on Saturday. FSU cross country takes part in the NCAA Championships. FSU football will host Boston College at 3:30 p.m. EST on ESPN2.

FSU soccer will face USC in the third round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m. EST.
Both FSU cross country teams finished near the bottom at the NCAA Championships on Saturday in Wisconsin.
