The Daily Nole – Nov. 11, 2018: Women’s Basketball Hosts Rival Florida Gators

Lead Story

Florida State women’s basketball will face off against the Florida Gators (0-1) in the Tucker Center on Sunday afternoon. The Seminoles have started the season 2-0 and are looking for their third straight victory over the Gators.

The entire Florida State starting five from 2017-2018 graduated in the offseason, meaning the 2018-2019 season would be a year of learning to say the least. So far the Seminoles have looked good in back-to-back wins over Troy and North Florida, with a combined 57-point margin of victory.

The leading scorers for Florida State are guard Nicki Ekhomu (22.5 PPG), forward Kiah Gillespie (19.5 PPG), and forward Valencia Myers (13.5 PPG). Leading rebounder is Gillespie with 12.5 per game, and Ekhomu leads in assists with nine.

Florida enters the contest after a shocking season opening loss to Gardner-Webb on November 6th.

The game will start at 3:00 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra.

Between the Lines

Florida State football fell to Notre Dame 42-13 on Saturday night.

Volleyball faces Notre Dame at 1:00 p.m. EST on ACC Network Extra. The match is in Tallahassee.

Men’s basketball will travel to New Orleans for a game against the Tulane Green Wave. That game will be broadcast on ESPN3 at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Men’s basketball opened up as a 14-point favorite against Tulane.

Florida State football’s last two games will both be in Doak Campbell Stadium.
