A disappointing loss to close the regular season didn’t stop Florida State soccer from beginning the ACC Tournament strong.

The seventh-seeded Seminoles (13-4-2) took down No. 2 seed Duke 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Durham. Kristen McFarland scored the game’s only goal in the 23rd minute.

Deyna Castellanos and Kristina Lynch assisted on the game’s only goal. FSU outshot Duke, 14-5.

In terms of shots on goal, FSU held a 5-3 edge. Brooke Bollinger had three saves in the shutout.

The Seminoles move on to face third-seeded Virginia in the ACC semifinals. The Cavaliers defeated sixth-seeded Louisville on Sunday, 2-1.

The contest takes place Friday in Cary, North Carolina. The Seminoles won the regular season meeting in Charlottesville last weekend.
