It’s no secret that Florida State’s 36-year bowl streak is in jeopardy.

At 3-3, FSU will need to win three games over its final six to become bowl-eligible. It should be noted that four of those games come against teams currently ranked in the AP top 16.

Out of six major publications to release their bowl projections, only USA TODAY currently has the Seminoles slated to play in a bowl:

Bowl Projections
Athlon Sports, Oct. 16: No bowl.

ESPN, Oct. 14: No bowl.

USA TODAY, Oct. 16: Sun Bowl vs. Arizona State (Dec. 31)

CBS Sports, Oct. 15: No bowl.

Bleacher Report, Oct. 16: No bowl.

SB Nation, Oct. 14: No bowl.

Summary
The lone publication that has Florida State playing in a bowl pits the Seminoles against Arizona State, which is also under a first-year head coach in Herman Edwards. FSU is 3-1 all-time against the Sun Devils, but the teams haven’t met since 1984.

The lone Arizona State victory was in the Fiesta Bowl — the only prior bowl meeting — to conclude the 1971 season. FSU is 0-2 all-time in the Sun Bowl with losses to UTEP and Wyoming to conclude the 1954 and 1966 seasons, respectively.
