The Daily Nole — Oct. 15, 2018: FSU Volleyball Rallies Past Syracuse

It’s Monday, Florida State fans. As you begin a new week, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Down two sets at Syracuse on Sunday, Florida State volleyball rallied to win the final three sets to stun the Orange, 23-25, 24-26, 25-16, 25-18, 15-12.

Payton Caffrey’s 26 kills led four FSU players in double digits in that category. Brianne Burkert finished with 30 assists and 12 digs for FSU while Adrian Ell added a team-high 31 assists to go with 10 digs. Polina Shemanova’s 30 kills led Syracuse.

With the win, FSU runs its record to 11-7 and 7-1 in ACC play. In conference, only Pittsburgh and Louisville have a better record than the Seminoles. Florida State returns home to host Georgia Tech on Friday.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU volleyball, FSU women’s tennis wrapped up the Bedford Cup on Sunday.

On the Agenda

FSU baseball will scrimmage the Ontario Blue Jays on Monday.

News and Notes

The ACC will announce players of the week for various sports on Monday.

Florida State’s home contest with Clemson on Oct. 27 will begin at noon EST and air on either ABC or ESPN.
