Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As the weekend and the rivalry contest with Miami near, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. We’ll update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State softball claimed its first national championship since becoming a fastpitch program and now, those visiting JoAnne Graf Field can be reminded of it.

The program unveiled a banner at the home stadium on Tuesday to celebrate the 2018 national title. After breezing through the Tallahassee Regional last season, the Seminoles won six straight elimination games to reach the Women’s College World Series finals for the first time where they swept Washington.

Although notable contributors such as Jessie Warren, Morgan Klaevemann and Kylee Hanson have graduated, FSU should be highly-ranked again in 2019. FSU softball begins its fall season on Sunday against State College of Florida at Jacksonville.

Between the Lines

FSU men’s and women’s tennis resumed the All-American Championships on Tuesday.

On the Agenda

FSU men’s and women’s tennis will resume the All-American Championships on Wednesday.

News and Notes

FSU volleyball legend Gabrielle Reece will have her jersey retired prior to the Oct. 7 match with North Carolina.

FSU women’s cross country comes in at No. 25 in this week’s USTFCCCA poll. It is the first time that FSU has been ranked since 2014.

FSU offensive lineman Derrick Kelly arrived for practice on Wednesday in full pads, according to the Noles247.
