It’s Friday, Florida State fans, which means we’re one day from game day. As your work week winds down, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. We’ll update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

After suffering its first loss less than a week prior, Florida State soccer had no trouble evening its ACC record on Thursday night with a 3-0 home victory over Virginia Tech.

Deyna Castellanos led FSU in the victory with a pair of goals including a spectacular goal to cap the scoring in the 65th minute. She also scored unassisted less than four minutes in. Alexa Orrante, a redshirt senior transfer, scored her first goal of the season in the 41st minute on assists from Malia Berkely and Gloria Villalobos.

FSU managed 12 shots on goal to just six for the Hokies. Brooke Bollinger finished with a pair of saves in the victory while Mandy McGlynn did likewise, but allowed three goals for Virginia Tech.

With the win, FSU improved to 8-1-1 and 1-1 in ACC play. After playing seven straight matches at home, the Seminoles will head north to face Boston College on Sunday.
