FSU Hoops Opens ACC Play at Virginia

The 2018-19 schedule for Florida State men’s basketball is now complete after the ACC announced its conference slate for the season on Thursday.

The non-conference schedule was unveiled in July. The Seminoles will open ACC play on Jan. 5 at defending conference champion Virginia.

The Cavaliers were one of two teams to defeat FSU at the Donald L. Tucker Center last season, but lost in the last meeting in Charlottesville. FSU prevailed late on a 3-pointer by Dwayne Bacon in the waning seconds in December 2016. This season’s contest begins at 3 p.m. EST and airs on ESPN2.

Following a trip to Virginia, FSU opens it ACC home slate against Miami on Jan. 9 and Duke on Jan. 12. That is followed by two long trips to face Pittsburgh and Boston College on Jan. 14 and Jan. 20, respectively.

FSU will place Clemson, Miami, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest all twice. The Seminoles host the Tigers on Jan. 22 and visit them on Feb. 22. FSU heads south to face Miami on Jan. 27. The contests with the Yellow Jackets will be on Feb. 2 in Tallahassee and Feb. 16 in Atlanta. The Seminoles host Wake Forest on Feb. 13 before wrapping up the regular season in Winston-Salem on March 9.

Other ACC homes games for FSU include Louisville, who snapped FSU’s home winning streak last season, on Feb. 9. FSU will host Notre Dame on Feb. 25, NC State on March 2 and Virginia Tech for Senior Night on March 5. Florida State will have to travel for its only match-ups with Syracuse on Feb. 5 and North Carolina on Feb. 23.

FSU went 23-12 last season and reached the Elite Eight for the first time in 25 years. The Seminoles open the season at home on Nov. 6 against rival Florida. Click here to view the full 2018-19 schedule for FSU.
