The Willie Taggart era got off to a less than spectacular start on Monday night as No. 19 Florida State was crushed by 20th-ranked Virginia Tech at Doak Campbell Stadium, 24-3.

The Hokies (1-0, 1-0) led 10-0 after their first two possessions. FSU (0-1, 0-1) had four trips inside the Virginia Tech 25-yard-line and none of them resulted in touchdowns.

Virginia Tech increased its lead to 17-3 on a blocked punt that was caught by Eric Kumah in the second quarter. He would catch the second of two touchdown passes from quarterback Josh Jackson. FSU’s Deondre Francois passed for 233 yards, but was intercepted three times.

FSU will remain home to face Samford next week. Virginia Tech will host William & Mary.

Our reaction will be posted here shortly.
