The Daily Nole — Aug. 30, 2018: FSU to Wear Black in Labor Day Opener

FSU athletics

It’s Thursday, Florida State fans, which means the first extended slate of college football games gets underway. As your day goes on, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

For the first time in nearly three years, Florida State will don the black football uniforms.

FSU players have advocated a “blackout” for Monday night’s season-opener against Virginia Tech. The last time they were worn was on Senior Day against Chattanooga in 2015 — a 52-13 victory.

That is the lone appearance in the black uniforms for FSU since the uniform overhaul prior to the 2014 season. The Seminoles first debuted all black “Unconquered” uniforms during a 2006 contest against Boston College. Florida State is 2-2 all-time in all black uniforms.
