Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your day comes along and your week heads downhill, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Both the Florida State men’s and women’s cross country teams will start in the top 5 of the South Region in the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association preseason rankings, according to a release.

The women are ranked second in the region behind only Georgia. The men are ranked fourth in the South Region behind Alabama, Middle Tennessee State and Ole Miss.

Senior Militsa Mircheva and sophomore Jodie Judd headline the women’s team while the men’s team is young with seven freshmen. Steven Cross headlines the team. Both teams open the season on Friday in the Covered Bridge Open in North Carolina.

News and Notes

The USTFCCCA preseason cross country polls will be released on Wednesday.

FSU unveiled its first depth chart of the 2018 season on Wednesday.

FSU will wear black for the Labor Day football opener against Virginia Tech.
