FSU Football: Purifoy No Longer with Program

FSU athletics

With the new fall roster having been updated over the weekend, one Florida State scholarship player was absent.

Defensive end Delvin Purifoy did not show up on the official team roster. A 6-foot-2, 245-pound linebacker from the panhandle, Purifoy was set to be a redshirt senior this coming year and is presumably no longer part of the team.

Once a highly-touted 4-star linebacker, Purifoy never made meaningful contributions during his four years in Tallahassee. This, despite the Seminoles lacking depth at the linebacker position in recent years.

Purifoy was recruited as a top-200 player, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, in 2014. Purifoy was injured for the 2016 season.

Purifoy was moved from linebacker to defensive end during the spring. Assuming Xavier Peters joins the team this month, FSU still has nine scholarship defensive ends.
