The Daily Nole — July 18, 2018: Clyde Keller Promoted to Pitching Coach

FSU Athletics

Wednesday has arrived, Florida State fans. As you get over the hump day, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State baseball will promote volunteer assistant coach Clyde Keller to pitching coach. Keller was a pitcher and infielder on the 1988 and 1989 Florida State teams, the latter of which went to the College World Series. He concluded his career in Tallahassee with a .315 batting average and 23-5 record on the mound.

Keller held various coaching positions in both the high school and college ranks before joining Florida State’s program in 2015. He has served as a pitching coach at multiple stops, which includes four years at Berkeley Prep High School in the recruiting hotbed of Tampa, Florida.

Keller is replacing former pitching coach Mike Bell, who accepted the head coach position at Pittsburgh. Whether or not Keller will remain on staff after Mike Martin retires is unknown at this point.

Between the Lines

Florida State men’s basketball released its full non-conference schedule on Monday afternoon. It will likely be one of the toughest non-conference slates in program history.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Wednesday.

News and Notes
