The first set of watch lists were unveiled on Monday and when it came to the Chuck Bednarik Award, one Florida State player made the list.

Defensive end Brian Burns was named to the preseason watch list. The award goes to the nation’s best defensive player.

Burns, a junior, finished with 48 tackles, including 4.5 sacks and team-highs with 13.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles last season. Burns is the Seminoles’ leading returning tackler and sack man.

The award is named after Penn and NFL legend Chuck Bednarik and has been given by the Maxwell Football Club since 1995. No FSU player has ever won the award.
