The Daily Nole — July 9, 2018: Posey Selected to MLB All-Star Game

Add another All-Star appearance to former Florida State catcher Buster Posey’s Major League Baseball resume.

Posey was selected to the Mid-Summer Classic for the sixth time on Sunday. The San Francisco Giants’ backstop has been three times as a starter, but will be a reserve this time around. For the season, Posey is hitting .290 with five home runs and 27 RBIs.

Posey was an All-American at FSU and won the Golden Spikes Award in 2008 for the Seminoles. The All-Star Game takes place on July 17 in Washington D.C.

A school-record four members of the FSU women’s golf team – Amanda Doherty, Kim Metraux, Morgane Metraux and Kathleen Sumner – have been named 2018 Women’s Golf Coaches Association Academic All-Americans.
