In this week’s installment of The Daily Nole Poll, we asked our readers which currently overlooked contest that Florida State should be on upset alert for in 2018. The results, not surprisingly, were resounding.

Only 57 voters chimed in, but 73 percent said NC State. The Seminoles will visit the Wolfpack on Nov. 3.

FSU has won the last two contests in Raleigh, but had to rally from double-digits down each time. NC State topped the Seminoles in Tallahassee last season, 27-21, to snap a 4-game skid to Florida State. In 10 trips to Carter-Finley Stadium since 1998, FSU is just 5-5 in those contests.

Louisville came in second with 12 percent of the vote. The Cardinals blasted FSU 63-20 in 2016 and won in Tallahassee last season, 31-28. Louisville will have to replace an All-American and former Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback in Lamar Jackson.

Syracuse got 11 percent of the vote. The Orange have lost 10 straight in the series. FSU needed a missed field goal as time expired to escape 27-24 at home last season. At the Carrier Dome last season, Syracuse did hand Clemson its only loss prior to the Tigers falling to national champion Alabama in the College Football Playoff.

Wake Forest got just 4 percent of the vote despite being competitive with the Seminoles in each of the last three contests. James Blackman’s 40-yard touchdown pass to Auden Tate in the final minute last season lifted the Seminoles to a 26-19 victory in Winston-Salem. The Demon Deacons haven’t scored a touchdown in Tallahassee since 2006.

We’ll have another poll for you next week.
