Three Florida State players who put up big numbers at the plate or on the mound this past season were honored by the ACC on Tuesday for the numbers they put up in the classroom.

According to a release, FSU catcher Cal Raleigh, third baseman Drew Mendoza and pitcher Andrew Karp have all been named to the All-ACC Academic team. The release reads:

“Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.”

Raleigh, a commercial entrepreneurism major, was among eight ACC players to earn academic and All-American honors. Raleigh led the Seminoles this past season with a .326 batting average and 54 RBIs to go with 13 home runs. Raleigh was drafted in the third round of the Major League Baseball Draft earlier this month by the Seattle Mariners, but has yet to sign.

Mendoza enjoyed an All-ACC season on the field and off. The statistics major put up impressive statistics in 2018 with a .313 average, seven home runs and 44 RBIs.

Karp, who was working on his master’s finance, posted a team-high eight wins this past season for the Seminoles to go with a 3.97 ERA. Karp struck out 97 batters in 81 2/3 innings before being drafted by the Washington Nationals in the sixth round. The redshirt junior has signed.
