Lead Story

Tragedy struck late Friday night as Florida State baseball commitment Zach Attianese and his father, Jude, were killed in a 6-car accident in Michigan, according to a report from My Central Jersey. Attianese was 20 years old.

Several others were injured in the accident, the report said. Attianese was ranked as the 18th best junior college pitcher by Perfect Game and posted a 10-3 record last season at State College of Florida. Attianese previously pitched at North Carolina.

“Our prayers go out to Zach’s mom Natalie and his sisters, Ashley and Sabrina, as they endure this heartbreaking tragedy,” a statement from the FSU baseball program reads. “Zach was a wonderful young man with a bright future that was sadly stripped away. Zach was excited about coming to Florida State and he will forever be a part of the Seminole baseball family. We will continue to have the Attianese family in our thoughts.”
