The Daily Nole — June 16, 2018: FSU Track and Field Earns Five ACC Outdoor Awards

Lead Story

The ACC handed out its postseason outdoor track and field honors on Friday and Florida State was well-represented. The Seminoles took five of the eight awards.

Head coach Bob Braman was named ACC Men’s Outdoor Coach of the Year after leading the Seminoles to their first outdoor title since 2015 and an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships earlier this month. His team was fueled by junior Andre Ewers, who claimed Men’s Track Performer of the Year after earning first-team All-American honors in three different events.

The Track Freshman of the Year honors was all Florida State as Trey Cunningham claimed the honor on the men’s side and Ka’Tia Seymour on the women’s side. Seymour earned All-American honors, including two first-team, in three different events while Cunningham earned first-team honors for the 110-meter hurdles.

Lauri Paredes Meza was named Field Performer of the Year. The redshirt freshman finished in third place in the javelin at the NCAA Championships earlier this month.
