The Daily Nole — June 13, 2018: FSU Softball, Baseball Programs to Be Honored by Governor

Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As your day goes along, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s two programs that play on the diamond will be honored by Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday morning.

The FSU softball program will be congratulated on its first national championship, which it captured last week after notching six wins in four days, including two against Washington in the national championship series. The softball title was the first national championship for FSU in any sport since soccer in 2014.

FSU’s baseball program will be recognized as well after its head coach made history this past season. Mike Martin surpassed Augie Garrido for the most wins in the history of the sport on May 5 during a 3-2 win over Clemson in 13 innings.
