Florida State freshman pitcher C.J. Van Eyk was recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Monday.

Van Eyk was named a Freshman All-American by NCBWA. After being worked along slow, Van Eyk became an integral part of the FSU bullpen.

Van Eyk finished the season with a perfect 7-0 record and a solid 2.86 ERA. Van Eyk appeared in 19 games, which included five starts.

Van Eyk was second on the team with a pair of saves and held opponents to a .208 opponent’s batting average. Van Eyk struck out 71 hitters in 56 2/3 innings.

Last week, Van Eyk was named to the National Collegiate Team. Fellow reliever Jonah Scolaro was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball last week.
