With the ACC Tournament getting underway on Tuesday and Florida State taking the field for the first time at 3 p.m. EST, the consensus seems to be that there is some work to do for the Seminoles to host the NCAA Tournament all the way to Omaha.

In the latest projections from both D1Baseball.com and Baseball America, FSU is pegged as the No. 10 national seed. D1Baseball’s projections were published on Monday and Baseball America’s on Tuesday.

To avoid potentially going on the road for the Super Regional round, a school would need to finish with a top-8 national seed. As the No. 10 national seed, FSU would host the Tallahassee Regional in each set of projections.

In D1Baseball’s projections, FSU is matched up with No. 4 seed Saint Louis to open the NCAA Tournament. The schools have not met since 1981 — FSU head coach Mike Martin’s second season as the head man.

Mississippi State occupies the No. 2 seed in the D1Baseball projections and Florida Atlantic the third seed. The Bulldogs topped FSU twice during the 2007 Tallahassee Regional. The Seminoles and Owls have not met since 1998.

According to Baseball America, the Seminoles would open the NCAA Tournament against the No. 4 seed in the Tallahassee Regional, Army. FSU beat the Black Knights 3-2 in the 2005 Tallahassee Regional, which was the last meeting between the schools.

Earning the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, respectively, in the Tallahassee Regional are Jacksonville and UCF. The Seminoles went a combined 5-0 against those two schools this season. FSU ended UCF’s season in the first Tallahassee Regional elimination game last year.

The two opponents in pool play for Florida State in the ACC Tournament will be Virginia and NC State. The Seminoles play the Cavaliers shortly and NC State on Friday night. Virginia does not currently appear in either projection. The Wolfpack are listed by both as the No. 14 national seed.
