The Daily Nole — May 22, 2018: Schedule Set for FSU-LSU Super Regional

It’s Tuesday, Florida State fans. As your day moves along, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

The opponent became known after both teams clinched their regionals on Sunday, but the softball Super Regional schedule for No. 6 Florida State and No. 11 LSU is now etched in stone.

The teams will begin the best-of-three Tallahassee Super Regional at 7 p.m. EST on Friday night on ESPNU. Saturday’s contest takes place at 5 p.m. EST on ESPN2. If necessary, the decisive game of the Super Regional will happen at 3 p.m. EST on Sunday on ESPNU.

At 50-10, Florida State went a perfect 3-0 in the Tallahassee Regional, knocking off Jacksonville State to wrap things up on Sunday. LSU went 3-1 in the Baton Rouge Super Regional, topping Louisiana-Lafayette in the decisive game. The Tigers won the final two games of the Tallahassee Super Regional last year to take down the Seminoles in three games.

Between the Lines

FSU women’s golf finished the NCAA Championships in a tie for 12th place on Monday.

On the Agenda

FSU baseball opens the ACC Tournament on Tuesday against Virginia. The contest begins at 3 p.m. EST and airs on Raycom Sports Network.

News and Notes

Freshman pitcher C.J. Van Eyk will start for Florida State on Tuesday.

FSU women’s tennis head coach Jennifer Hyde was named Southeast Region Coach of the Year and the team was honored with ITA Community Service Award.

FSU tackle Josh Ball has been suspended by a university panel, stemming from domestic violence allegations.

FSU baseball used an RBI double from Reese Albert in extra innings to top Virginia at the ACC Tournament, 3-2, on Tuesday.
