Lead Story
Through two rounds of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships, Florida State sits in a good spot. The Seminoles climbed a spot on Saturday and are now tied with Kent State for sixth place.
Through two rounds, FSU is +19 as a team. UCLA is the overall leader at -3. The top 15 teams will get to play a fourth round on Monday and from there, the top 8 advance to match play.
Sisters Morgane and Kim Metraux are pacing the Seminoles as both are tied for fifth place overall at -2. Three are tied for the overall lead at -5.
Nine teams will be eliminated on Sunday as the third round takes place.
Between the Lines
In addition to women’s golf, FSU softball defeated Auburn 2-1 in eight innings on Saturday on an inside-the-park home run from Carsyn Gordon in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. FSU baseball was defeated by NC State in the regular season finale, 5-3. Vanderbilt defeated FSU women’s tennis in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, 4-0.
On the Agenda
In addition to women’s golf, FSU softball will take on Jacksonville State in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Sunday at noon EST on ESPN3.
News and Notes
FSU baseball will be paired with NC State and Virginia in Pool C of the ACC Tournament. FSU opens the tournament against Virginia on Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST.
FSU softball defeated Jacksonville State 10-0 to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals.
FSU softball will play No. 11 national seed LSU in the Super Regional round. The Tigers topped Louisiana-Lafayette in the decisive game of the Baton Rouge Regional on Sunday night, 3-1.
