Florida State softball received its regional match-up for the upcoming 2018 NCAA Softball Tournament. The Seminoles will face off against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. EST.

Jacksonville State earned its tournament spot by winning the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. That was their seventh OVC Tournament championship and it is the first team to win three straight since Tennessee Tech in 2005-07. The Gamecocks finished 33-23 overall.

Florida State romped its way to a fifth straight ACC championship this season thanks to a game-winning home run by Anna Shelnutt on Saturday. While the Seminoles’ postseason spot was secure by then, the win put them over the top and helped secure the No. 6 overall seed.

The Seminoles are ranked in the top 10 of both the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll after a 44-10 overall record in the regular season. Joining FSU and Jacksonville State, the region’s No. 4 seed, will be second-seeded Auburn and third-seeded Kennesaw State.

Six players were selected for the 2018 All-ACC Teams, with five on the All-ACC first team: Jessie Warren, Kylee Hanson, Sydney Sherrill, Zoe Casas, and Meghan King. Warren also won ACC Player of the Year, while Hanson won ACC Pitcher of the Year and Sherrill won ACC Freshman of the Year. Carsyn Gordon was selected to the second team. FSU led all schools with six All-ACC members.

The tournament will air and be streamed on ESPN’s family of networks.
