Florida State completed a doubleheader sweep of Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday with an 8-2 victory in a second 7-inning game at Dick Howser Stadium.

With the win, FSU improves to 36-16 for the year. The Seminoles will aim for a 4-game sweep of the Mountaineers on Sunday.

The Good: The Florida State bats continued to produce offensively in the second game of the series with eight runs, bringing the 3-game series total to 30. FSU also only had to use two pitchers in the nightcap and three for the day in the doubleheader sweep.

The Bad: Despite losing by six runs and getting outhit, 11-8, Mount St. Mary’s actually left more men on base than the Seminoles. The Mountaineers left seven to just five for FSU.

The Ugly: Although both games on Saturday were shortened to seven innings, no starting pitcher for Mount St. Mary’s could make it out of the fourth. Starter Trey McGough allowed seven runs and six earned in only 2 1/3 inning to take the loss.

Studs of the Game: FSU catcher Cal Raleigh and outfielder Reese Albert each homered and scored a pair of runs in the victory. Raleigh had three hits and three RBIs while Albert had two of each for those statistical categories. J.C. Flowers was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for FSU to cap his second day back from a jaw injury. Mount St. Mary’s lead-off man Myles Nicholson was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Duds of the Game: Pat Daly was 0-for-3 for the Mountaineers with a pair of strikeouts. Outfielder A.J. Narcise struck out in each of his three at-bats. Trey McGough also gets this distinction for a sub-par outing. Mike Salvatore was 0-for-3 for the Seminoles.
