A chance to beat rival Florida twice in one season looks as though it may be on the table for Florida State’s women’s tennis team.

The Seminoles advanced past the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Gainesville with a 4-0 victory over North Florida. FSU improves to 18-12 with the victory and will be advancing past the first round for the second straight season.

After taking the doubles point, the Seminoles were able to get on the board first during the singles session with a straight set victory for Petra Hule over North Florida’s Eva Nyikos, 6-4, 6-0. Andrea Garcia added a straight set win for the Seminoles over the Ospreys’ Florencia Rossi, 6-1, 6-1.

Carla Touly clinched the match for FSU with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Rafaela Gomez. FSU and North Florida were playing in the third set on two other courts.

The Ospreys finish the season with a record of 17-8. FSU will move on to face either host and No. 9 national seed Florida or Youngstown State on Sunday. The Seminoles defeated the Gators 4-1 in Lake Nona on Feb. 3.
