Florida State men’s tennis might have been a little closer to home than the women who were playing in Gainesville on Friday, but the result was the same.

The No. 12 nationally-seeded Seminoles (28-4) had little trouble with Alabama State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Tallahassee. FSU didn’t lose a single set nor allow the Hornets to win more than three games in any set in an easy 4-0 victory.

After taking the doubles point, three FSU players won in straight sets during singles to clinch the match in less than 90 minutes. FSU’s Aziz Dougaz defeated Alabama State’s Carl-Louis Luckmann, 6-0, 6-1.

On Courts 2 and 3, FSU’s Guy Iradukunda and Lucas Poullain beat the Hornets’ Tomas Fernandez and Alexis Collard by identical 6-0, 6-2 scores. Alabama State finishes the season with a record of 12-9.

The Seminoles will advance to take on another team from the state of Alabama on Saturday in the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama, the regional’s No. 3 seed, moved on with a 4-1 victory over Tulane on Friday.
