One month after a first appearance in the Elite Eight and the attrition for Florida State’s men’s basketball team is greater than anticipated.

On Sunday, center Ike Obiagu confirmed that he was transferring, joining guard C.J. Walker as the second transfer of the offseason for the Seminoles. Walker has since announced that he would be continuing his career at Ohio State.

Walker’s decision was assumed to be based on the younger Trent Forrest overtaking him for minutes at the point guard position. With Obiagu however, he seemed to be watching his role become more prominent over the veteran Christ Koumadje.

Obiagu’s biggest strength as a freshman this past season was as a shot-blocker. Averaging 2.1 blocked shots per game, Obiagu was among the leaders in the ACC and in the top 50 nationally.

Obiagu was relatively raw offensively, but finished his freshman campaign averaging 2.3 points and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 58 percent from the field. The Nigerian native averaged less than 11 minutes per contest and made 14 starts.
